“Indian 2” is the sequel to the 1996 cult classic “Indian,” and is produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies. The film also features Siddharth, S J Suryah, Bobby Simha, Gulshan Grover, and the late Nedumudi Venu. The music is composed by Anirudh, succeeding AR Rahman who scored the original.
In “Indian 2,” Kamal Haasan reprises his iconic role as Senapathy, a 106-year-old martial arts master fighting corruption using the ancient Indian practice of Varma Kalai. Despite questions about the character’s advanced age, Shankar defended the decision by citing a 120-year-old Chinese martial artist, Lu Zijian, as inspiration.
“Indian 2” was released in theaters on July 12 and continues to draw audiences, although its earnings have slowed down since the initial weekend.
