Apple has achieved a significant milestone in India, with its sales surging by 33% to nearly $8 billion in the year ending March, according to a report by Bloomberg News. This impressive growth underscores Apple’s expanding footprint in the Indian market, a region where it has been increasingly focusing its efforts.
A key driver of this growth has been the iPhone, which accounted for more than half of Apple’s sales in India. The popularity of the iPhone in the Indian market highlights the brand’s strong appeal among consumers in the country.
In a related development, Apple has also ramped up its manufacturing operations in India. Bloomberg reported in April that Apple assembled $14 billion worth of iPhones in the country during the last fiscal year. This production volume represents as much as 14% of Apple’s global iPhone output.
The majority of these iPhones are produced at the Sriperumbudur plant, located approximately 25 miles west of Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu state. This facility has become a crucial hub for Apple’s manufacturing activities in India.
As of now, Apple has not responded to Reuters’ request for comments on these reports.
