Rohit Sharma on Virat Kohli’s Form: ‘He’s Saving for the Finals’

Virat Kohli’s performance has been a concern in the T20 World Cup, but Rohit Sharma addressed this after India’s semi-final win against England. India advanced to the final with a 68-run victory, despite rain interruptions.

Rohit Sharma led the team with an aggressive 57 off 39 balls, supported by Suryakumar Yadav’s 47 off 36 balls. India set a total of 171/7 after being put to bat. England struggled and were bowled out for 103 in 16.4 overs. India will face South Africa in the final on Saturday in Barbados.

Despite India’s dominance, Kohli’s poor form remains a worry. He has struggled since the tournament’s start, scoring only 9 runs in the semi-final. Kohli, who opened with Rohit, has been out of form despite his IPL success.

Rohit Sharma, however, is not worried. He emphasized Kohli’s quality and experience, suggesting Kohli might be saving his best for the final. “He’s a quality player. Form isn’t a problem when you’ve played for 15 years. He’s looking good, the intent is there. He’s probably saving for the finals,” Rohit said.

India hopes Kohli will shine in the final, aiming to end an 11-year ICC title drought. This will be India’s third appearance in the T20 World Cup final, with their last in 2014 ending in defeat to Sri Lanka.
