Apple has suspended the development of its next high-end Vision headset to concentrate on a more affordable version, according to a report from The Information. The budget-friendly model, featuring fewer capabilities, is slated for release by the end of next year.
The decision comes as the $3,500 Vision Pro faces slower demand despite initial enthusiasm. To boost sales, Apple plans to launch the Vision Pro in eight new countries, including China and Japan.
This strategic shift follows Apple’s recent developer conference, where it unveiled its AI strategy and announced a partnership with OpenAI. The event has positively impacted Apple’s shares, which have risen over 11% this year.
Initially, Apple planned to offer both standard and Pro versions of the Vision headset but has since prioritized reducing the costs of the first-generation components over developing the high-end successor.
