Google has launched its Gemini mobile app in India, featuring a generative AI chatbot that supports nine Indian languages alongside English. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, announced the rollout on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the app’s versatility and capabilities.
Key Features of Gemini:
- Multilingual Support: Available in Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
- Versatile Interaction: Users can type, talk, or upload images to receive assistance, making tasks like learning to change a flat tire or drafting a thank you note easier.
- Enhanced AI Capabilities: Gemini Advanced offers advanced features including data analysis and file uploads.
Accessing Gemini: To use Gemini, users can download the app or opt-in through Google Assistant. Activation is possible by corner swiping, pressing the power button (on select phones), or using voice commands such as “Hey Google.” For iOS users, access is integrated directly within the Google app.
This launch marks Google’s commitment to creating a conversational, multimodal AI assistant that enhances user experience across different languages and tasks. Gemini is not only available in India but also launched in Turkey, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, expanding its reach globally.
