Alphabet, Google’s parent company, is set to manufacture drones and Pixel smartphones in Tamil Nadu. Foxconn will handle the production, with Dixon Technologies already contracted for smartphone manufacturing.
The drone manufacturing will take place in Sriperumbudur near Chennai. Google’s decision to choose Tamil Nadu highlights the state’s strong support for global manufacturing.
This follows Google’s announcement to produce its Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro phones in India. Currently, over 80% of India’s iPhones are assembled in Tamil Nadu by Foxconn and Pegatron.
A recent visit by Tamil Nadu officials to Google’s headquarters in California further solidified these plans, marking Tamil Nadu as a key manufacturing hub for tech companies.
