Apple is reportedly developing a slimmer version of the iPhone, anticipated to launch in September 2025 alongside the iPhone 17. This new model, which is still in the design testing phase, is code-named D23 and is expected to feature Apple’s latest-generation processor, likely named the A19. According to sources familiar with the project, this slimmer iPhone will be priced higher than the current iPhone Pro Max.
The Cupertino-based tech giant is focusing on revitalizing its flagship product amid stiff competition from brands like Honor, Huawei, and Samsung. Currently, Samsung leads the global smartphone market with a 20.8% share, while Apple holds a 17.3% share. Notably, Apple’s iPhone sales fell by 10.5% to $45.96 billion in the fiscal second quarter.
In addition to the upcoming slimmer iPhone, Apple is planning other changes to its product lineup. The company intends to discontinue the less expensive iPhone Plus model and introduce a more affordable successor to the iPhone SE, expected in spring 2025.
This move is part of Apple’s broader strategy to maintain its competitive edge and appeal to a wider range of consumers. Recently, Apple also unveiled its latest iPad Pro, equipped with a new chip designed for artificial intelligence computing, as it strives to stay ahead in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
Apple has not yet responded to requests for comment on these developments.
