Prafulla Dhariwal, a talented research scientist from Pune, has been lauded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman for his critical contributions to the development of GPT-4o, a modified version of the ChatGPT-4 model. Dhariwal, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (Mathematics) from MIT, joined OpenAI in May 2016. His significant achievements at OpenAI include co-creating GPT-3, DALL-E 2, Jukebox, and Glow.

Prafulla Dhariwal’s journey began with notable academic achievements, including winning the National Talent Search Scholarship, gold medals at the International Astronomy, Mathematical, and Physics Olympiads, and receiving the Abasaheb Naravane memorial prize. His initial goal was to study at IIT, but he ultimately chose MIT, where his passion for computer science flourished.
