Google has fired over 20 employees for protesting against a project with the Israeli government. This comes after 28 employees were fired last week for similar protests. The protests were about Google’s $1.2 billion cloud computing project with the Israeli government, called Project Nimbus.
Some employees were arrested during the protests. Google’s head of security called the protests disruptive and threatened coworkers’ safety. After an investigation, Google fired 28 employees. Now, with more firings, the total is nearly 50.
Google’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, said the company values open discussions but there are limits. He emphasized that Google is a business and not a place for disruptive behavior or personal agendas. He urged employees to focus on work and avoid disruptive debates or politics.
