“Remote Work Extended: UAE Government’s Response to Weather Crisis”

Dubai experienced unprecedented rainfall between Monday and Tuesday, equivalent to a year and a half’s worth of rain. The downpour, described as a “historic weather event,” flooded the city, causing widespread disruption.

Dubai International Airport, a crucial travel hub, faced significant operational challenges as the runway flooded, leading to flight disruptions. While inbound flights at Terminal 1 resumed, delays persisted. Many residents abandoned their vehicles due to rising water levels.

UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized citizen safety, directing support for affected families and ordering a study of infrastructure. Remote work for government employees was extended, and the National Center of Meteorology refuted claims of cloud seeding causing the rainfall.

Weather experts forecast stability in the coming days, though cloudy conditions may persist. The government assured efforts to manage the aftermath of the unprecedented rainfall.
